trying to get into the actual house/techno scene here. is coda still the spot or is the real thing the warehouse parties on geary now? and how do you even find out when those are, feels like you gotta already know someone

both, they're different things. coda's the reliable club with an actual booking calendar and a great system. the geary/warehouse stuff is more one off, better for a proper rave energy

follow the collectives and record shops on ig, get on their mailing lists, and just go to a few coda nights and talk to people. that's honestly how you get plugged in

coda for a guaranteed good night, warehouse for when you want something special. RA still lists a surprising amount of the legit ones btw

warehouse parties bring cash, sometimes no card, and last call's looser since there's no booze license. coda you're done at 2 like everywhere else
