BAR 244 OVERVIEW
Bar 244 is a medium sized bar that features two floors with a bar on each floor, and cheap drinks which makes it a perfect pre-drink and bar hopping spot. Popular among the mainstream crowd and university student aged patrons, Bar 244 offers $3 drinks every night of the week. The basement floor of this bar offers more of a club vibe while the top floor is strictly a bar that also offers food. Bathrooms are located on the top floor.
BAR 244 REVIEW
Since Bar 244’s main appeal is the cheap drinks it always attracts a younger crowd that is looking for a cheap night out with friends. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you’re a university student, Bar 244 tends to cater to a much more casual crowd, which is true for most if not all bars and clubs in the Entertainment District. Having visited this venue several times over the years it’s definitely served as a great spot to sit down, celebrate a friends birthday and drink beers without the headache of arranging a party at a high end club on King West. While Bar 244 isn’t really our favourite venue in this area, it serves it’s purpose as a pre-party spot to get buzzed at before hitting one of the other spots in the area or going to King Street to hit a club. Bar 244 usually plays a mix of Top 40 hits and 2000s Pop Rock throwbacks upstairs, while downstairs usually has a mix of EDM / Hip-Hop. Overall this spot is decent if you’re looking for a casual spot to party at and are part of the student aged crowd but if you’re not we suggest you steer clear of it.

BAR 244 GENERAL INFORMATION
The capacity of Bar 244 is about 250-300 people, making it a medium-sized venue. There is usually a pretty big line that forms early on in the night since this venue is so popular so it’s important to show up early if you’re looking to get those cheap $3 drinks. Bar 244 does not have a coat check, but people usually just leave their coats around where they’re seated during the colder months of the year. Again, drinks start at $3 which includes mixed drinks, and bottles of beer. The prices range from $3 to $5 for these drinks, and shots cost $6-$7+. The main floor (upstairs) consists of a single large bar, the main area for dancing, and a few tables with seated areas and high tops to the right. Additionally, there is another room on this floor which leads to the bathrooms. The basement floor is reminiscent of a dance cave that plays different music. In the back, there is a booth area, but the lower floor just has two main dance floors and one bar on the right. There is also a set of bathrooms on this lower level. Finally, there is no patio or smoking area, so ensure you get stamped if you want to go out front for a smoke.
BAR 244 LOCATION
Bar 244 is located in Toronto’s Downtown Core, in the Entertainment District on Adelaide Street West, West of University Ave. This bar is easy to spot since it’s at the corner, and there is a large red sign out front.
BAR 244 AGE LIMIT
You must be 19+ to enter Bar 244 on a normal club night, no exceptions are made.
BAR 244 DRESS CODE
The dress code is casual and there shouldn’t be any problems getting in as long as you dress decently. Overall security is very lax on dress code.
THE MUSIC AT BAR 244
Bar 244 plays a mix of Top 40 and Pop / Punk Rock upstairs and a mix of Hip-Hop or EDM downstairs. Overall we found the mixes at this venue inconsistent, but on the plus side they do aim to cater to everyone with their playlist.

Cover charge for BAR 244 is typical $10 for everyone but is free before 11:00PM with guestlist, so be sure to sign up.
BAR 244 GUESTLIST GUIDE
We suggest you sign up for Bar 244’s guestlist ahead of time to ensure you’re able to get into the club. Since cover charge still applies regardless of guestlist past 11:00PM, we suggest you to aim to arrive for 10:50PM at the absolute latest, since sometimes a line will start to form as early as 10:45PM. Once you arrive at the club simply tell the door person what guestlist you’re under, check-in, get stamped, and head in to start your night.
