CAKE OVERVIEW

Cake is a medium sized club / bar that has 2 main areas, 3 bars, and a handful of booths in each area. Cake has a very casual club / bar vibe similar to the other venues in the Entertainment District.

CAKE CLUB REVIEW

When first stepping foot into Cake, you’ll notice the two sections of this club, but really it has more of a bar vibe just with louder music. While there isn’t anything particularly bad about this venue, it just fails to establish a good vibe. Having been to this venue a few times on regular nights and for event nights and pub crawls, it’s not our favourite spot, but it’s not our least favourite spot either. We oftentimes would find the music a bit erratic with a mix of Top 40, Pop, 2000s Hip-Hop throwbacks, and Rap. The problem with Cake is that the DJ just plays whatever and it’s evident that the club doesn’t always vibe to what’s being played. This bar / club really aims to appeal to anyone in the area that is going to one of the other venues in the Entertainment district and unfortunately does not appeal to any specific niche which is what makes it feel so watered down. It’s not to say you can’t have a great night here, but unless you’re looking for a very casual party and are okay with the club not popping off or being busy it’s again, not a bad place. The biggest benefit to this club is their extremely $3 drinks and super cheap bottles, only costing $100 for a bottle (only a one bottle minimum for bottle service). While bottles are cheap it should tell you a bit about what this place is like and who it would appeal to. What we’ve generally noticed is the crowd is an odd mix of university students and casual young professionals. We won’t tear into this venue because it does serve its purpose as a cheap and accessible club for everyone, but we wouldn’t recommend it for anything other than a very in-expensive bar to pre-drink at before hitting another venue.

PROS

∙ Probably the cheapest bottles in all of Toronto
∙ $3 drinks from the bars

CONS

∙ Vibe can be really weird
∙ Erratic mix of music
∙ Doesn’t often pop off, can be boring

INSIDER TIPS

∙ This club offers stamped re-entry
∙ Have a backup club or bar to hit afterwards in case you don’t like ite

CAKE GENERAL INFORMATION

Cake has a capacity of roughly 350 people when the entire club is open (main raised area and the large dancefloor). Since this club is really hit and miss and capacity is relatively high you don’t necessarily have to rush to line up but we would still suggest getting to the venue by 11:30pm at the latest, or earlier if you’re looking to just pre-drink and get buzzed off their $3 drinks, $4 beers or share a cheap bottle with friends. Door staff, security, and bar staff are all very friendly and professional so that’s a big plus. After lining up and getting a quick pat-down by security, simply pay cover and get stamped since this is a stamped re-entry venue. The primary bar is located to the left when first walking in, bathrooms are straight ahead, and the secondary bars are located downstairs on each end of the large dance floor. Smoking area is out front which is why you need a stamp so you don’t need to wait in line to get back in.

CAKE LOCATION

Cake Bar & Nightclub is located in Toronto’s downtown core in the Entertainment District. The venue itself is on the Northside of Adelaide St West and is easily spotted with its bright purple lighting and large signs that say “Cake Bar” out front.

CAKE AGE LIMIT

You must be 19+ to enter Cake on a normal club night, no exceptions are made.

CAKE DRESS CODE

The dress code is casual yet classy, and door staff isn’t overly picky about what you can wear. Ladies may bring in purses but bags are not allowed. Guys are not allowed to dress in sportswear, wear boots, hats or bring in sidebags.

THE MUSIC AT CAKE

Cake plays a mix of Top 40, Hip-Hop, Trap, EDM, and 2000s throwbacks. The venue aims to appeal to everyone’s taste in music which is why the vibe is considered erratic.

CAKE COVER CHARGE

Cover charge for Cake is typically $10, while everyone can get free entry to the club before 11:00PM with guestlist.

CAKE GUESTLIST GUIDE

We suggest you sign up for Cake’s guestlist ahead of time to ensure you’re able to get into the club. Since cover charge still applies regardless of guestlist past 11:00PM for ladies, we suggest you to aim to arrive for 10:50PM at the latest so that you can save on cover. Once you arrive at the club simply tell the door person what guestlist you’re under, check-in, get stamped, and head in to start your night.

CAKE BOOTH AND BOTTLE SERVICE

Bottle prices typically range from $100 – $200 on average for mid-range liquor bottles, and higher-end bottles are available which will cost upwards of $200+ a bottle. If you’re looking to check out Cake, simply sign up for guestlist or bottle service and one of our staff will help guide you further on your best options for the night.
