EFS is King West's hip-hop gold standard: lounge house early, then rap, R&B and trap till 3am, an upscale 21+ crowd, and a square room ringed by booths that fills by 12:30. Here's the honest rundown.
The honest reviewEFS sits in the Fashion District at 647 King St W (M5V 1M5), on the south side of King near Bathurst, right in the city's core. You'll spot it by the bright neon, the door staff out front, and the signature brushed-aluminum EFS sign lit from behind in red. Guestlist line is on the left facing the club, VIP booth and bottle line is on the right.
Small to medium, one room, capacity around 450. Three bars: one at the front and two in the back corners. The middle is a square dance floor enclosed by booths, with more booths along the back walls. Because it's tighter than some King West rooms, the front can get crowded fast. There's also a decent patio upstairs in summer, which turns into a covered smoking area in winter.
Upscale young professionals, early-20s to mid-30s, dressed clean and semi-formal. It's an upper-tier crowd that comes to see and be seen, and the layout leans toward the booth-and-bottle set. Bring your group, dress the part.
EFS plays one of the best mixes on the strip: lounge house to open the night, then a gradual shift into hip-hop, rap, R&B and trap as it gets going. It's known for spinning a lot of Toronto's current local rap. The DJs are the whole point, and they're why this room gets called the gold standard for hip-hop clubs on King Street.
Classy and fashion-forward, and the door is strict about it. Guys wear dress shirts or sharp street wear with dress shoes or dressy boots. No sportswear, no men's side-bags, no boots that read casual, no sneakers. Ladies usually go for dresses or something current, most often with heels, and the door tends to be a bit more lenient on the women's side. Door staff is selective but generally nice about it.
You must be 21+ to enter as a man, with ladies allowed at 19+ on a normal club night. Bring real ID either way.
