El Convento Rico is a Toronto institution. A Latin and LGBTQ+ club that has been packing College Street since 1992, with world-famous drag shows, dance lessons and a floor that never sits still. Here's the honest rundown, plus the free guestlist so you skip the line.
The sceneEl Convento Rico has been doing this for over 30 years and it shows. It opened in 1992 as a safe, welcoming home for the LGBTQ+ community, and that warmth still runs the whole room. Everybody is welcome, everybody dances, nobody is posing in a corner. This is a club with a heart.
One big open room, warm and loud, built for moving. Salsa rolls into reggaeton, then a Top 40 hit, then a classic, then the drag show takes over. It fills up fast past 11 and stays full. Come with your people, come to dance, come for the show.

One open room, single floor, holds up to about 300. Warm, colourful decor and an open layout that pulls everyone onto the floor together. No velvet-rope corners here. The whole point is that everybody is in it.
A mixed, LGBTQ+-rooted crowd that spans ages and backgrounds. Friends out for the drag show, couples dancing salsa, birthday and bachelorette groups. It is one of the friendliest rooms in the city, and that is why people keep coming back.
The DJs at El Convento Rico cover a lot of ground: Latin and salsa and reggaeton, Top 40, classics, and techno late. It is mixed for a floor that wants to dance, not a floor that wants to stand. Whatever you came for, you will find yourself moving.
Dress code is stylish. Come looking like you made an effort. Skip the baggy jeans, athletic shoes, Timberlands and sportswear. Chic and trendy keeps the room looking sharp and everyone on the same page.
