Orchid is Peter Street's urban room: soca, dancehall and hip-hop till 3am, a mixed young-and-grown crowd, and a Barcode Saturday that gets properly lit when it pops. Here's the honest rundown.
The honest reviewOrchid sits on Peter Street, between Adelaide and King West, marked by a large red sign. It's the only club on the street, so it's the one with a line and door staff out front. Easy to find, right in the Entertainment District.
Capacity runs about 450-500, with plenty of room to move on and around the main dance floor. Three bars, all big enough to handle a full house, so you're not stuck waiting all night for a drink. The DJ booth is at the back, raised above the floor, and bathrooms are toward the rear too.
An urban crowd that's a mix of young and a little more mature. When it pops off it's lit. It's not for everyone, but if the music is your thing you'll have a real night.
Orchid plays a mix of soca, dancehall, reggae, hip-hop, rap, trap and R&B. The Barcode Saturday mixes are well done and the room vibes hard with them on most nights. If that's your sound, the music is the best reason to come.
Dress code is classy. Dress decently and you're fine. Bags aren't allowed, though women can bring a purse. Men: no sportswear, no hats, no boots and no side-bags.
Strict 19+ on a normal club night, no exceptions, so bring real ID.
