DROM Taberna is a live-music room on Queen West with Balkan and Eastern European soul. Music every single night, communal tables, a bohemian fit-out, and a crowd that comes to listen and then to dance. Here's the honest rundown, plus how to reserve a table.
The sceneDROM is not a bottle-service club and it never pretends to be. It is a taberna built around live music, drawing on the culture of Eastern Europe and the travelling spirit of the Romani people. The name means travel and the open road, and the room feels like that: warm, colourful, a little wild, open to everyone.
The main floor is one big space with communal tables and a stage. Early on it is a dinner-and-a-show room. Later it loosens up, the band gets louder, and the floor turns into a party. Come for the music first. The rest follows.
Quick factsDROM does not run a club guestlist. It is a music venue, and the move is to reserve a table, especially for dinner and the earlier sets. It accepts reservations for groups, and after 10pm the room runs first come, first served. Reserve direct through DROM below.
Reserve straight through DROM. For groups, book ahead and earlier in the night. Many shows run pay-what-you-can, so bring something for the tip jar that goes to the musicians.
▸ Reserve a tableDROM is on Queen West at 458 Queen St W (M5V 2A8), east of Spadina. Right in the thick of the Queen West strip, easy to reach from anywhere downtown.
Large and open, with communal tables and a stage front and centre. The decor is colourful and eclectic, bohemian and proudly Eastern European. It is built for a shared night: you will end up talking to the table next to you.
A mixed crowd that comes for the music. Couples on a date, friends out for a band they love, regulars who treat the place like a living room. Less about being seen, more about the room and the sound.
Music is the whole reason DROM exists. Live performances run every night, rooted in Balkan and Eastern European traditions, with Top 40 worked in to keep the floor moving for a wide crowd. Every night plays a little different. The constant is that there is always a band, and the room is built to listen.
Casual. Dress up if you feel like it, keep it relaxed if you do not. Either way you will fit right in. DROM is about the music and the room, not a door policy.
There is a $15 cover on Friday and Saturday after 10pm. Ticketed events can be priced differently, and many performances run pay-what-you-can with a tip jar for the musicians. DROM takes reservations for groups, mostly for dinner and earlier in the night. After 10pm it is first come, first served. For groups of 6 or more, expect to leave a card to hold the table.
19+. It is an adult room and the age policy is enforced, so bring ID.
DROM is a taberna, so there is a full kitchen and a patio for warmer nights. Drinks are reasonable: mixed drinks run $10 to $17, beer is $9.50 plus tax, and shots range widely depending on what you pour. Come hungry, come thirsty, stay for the band.
