Everleigh's on King West at 580 King St W (M5V 1M1), on King Street West just east of Portland, right beside The Keg. It's on the second floor of a commercial building, so look for the coloured lights that light up the front. Easy to spot once you know what you're looking for.

The room

Capacity runs about 400, so it's medium to large, two rooms flowing into one another with no wall between them. One side is the bar room with booths, pool tables and foosball. The other is the bigger open dance floor with booths along the back wall. Plenty of space whether you're dancing all night or posted at a table.

Who's there

Mostly upscale young professionals, early-20s to mid-30s, dressed smart casual. The crowd is a big mix of ages and types, and it can shift a lot from one night to the next. Fridays skew a bit more mature and laid back; Saturdays pull a wider range.

What's great

• Large venue. Two rooms, room to move, and the bar side gives you pool and foosball when you want a break from the floor.

What to wear

Dress code is smart casual and fashion forward. Collared shirts are the safe call, and guys should be in dressy shoes, no sneakers or runners. As long as you're dressed classy you shouldn't have trouble at the door. Women can bring purses, but side-bags for men, sportswear and boots are out.
