DPRTMNT is King West's big EDM room: house, electronic and Top 40 till 3am, a 21-to-30-plus crowd, and a stage built for big-name DJs on Friday and Saturday. Here's the honest rundown, plus the free guestlist so you skip the line.
The sceneDPRTMNT is the newest addition to the King West club scene, in the Fashion District, in the room that used to be Toybox. INK Entertainment gutted it and rebuilt it as a full performance and event venue, so this isn't a regular Top 40 club. It's an EDM and rave room with state-of-the-art lighting and a sound system tuned for house and electronic sets. If you want a big EDM club on King West, this is the one.
It's a massive space that can hold 800 to 1,000 people. The crowd packs the front stage, the main dancefloor in the center, and the booths off to the side. The energy runs high because of the music and the people it pulls every weekend. Come to move, bring your people, and check who's spinning before you go.
Quick factsTwo nights, big-room sound both. Here's what each weekend looks like.
Skip the lineFree guestlist smooths your entry. Get on it ahead of time, arrive before 11pm to beat the rush (earlier in the summer), check in under your name, you're in. Want a booth instead? Pick bottle service below and we'll sort your table. Heads up: on ticketed event and artist nights, entry is priced separately and the free entry deal doesn't apply, so check who's on before you go.

DPRTMNT is off King West at 473 Adelaide St W (M5V 1T1), just north of King and Portland. The entrance is on the east side, down the alley across from Vela. Easiest way to spot the alley: look for Gusto 101, the alley is just to the right of it. You're central to the King West clubbing strip, surrounded by the bars and clubs the area is known for.
It's a massive EDM venue that easily handles 800 to 1,000 people. The atmosphere is built to grab you: state-of-the-art lighting and a sound system designed for house and electronic DJ sets. The crowd splits between the front stage, the main dancefloor in the center, and the bottle service booths around it. High energy by design.
Mostly a 21 to 30-plus crowd that's into EDM and electronic. This is a full rave room, not a Top 40 or hip-hop club, so it pulls people who actually want that sound. Want real energy and a floor that goes off to a big-name DJ? That's what weekends here are for.
DPRTMNT is known for hosting world-class house DJs. Depending on who's on, you could get big room house, deep house, bass house, tech house, progressive house or techno. On a regular night without a special DJ, expect a mix of house and Top 40. Keep an eye on the calendar so you catch your favourites. Dress code is casual to semi-formal, and you're encouraged to dress well. No sportswear, non-designer sneakers, baggy clothes, boots or hats. Women may bring purses, but large bags and men's side bags usually won't get through. Entry is always at the door staff's discretion, so put on your best fit to avoid getting denied, especially for a ticketed event.
Cover is $20, with women free before 11:30pm on regular nights. That doesn't apply to special nights or themed events where entry is ticketed for the artist performing. The guestlist is your move for a clean entry: get on it ahead of time, arrive before 11pm to beat the rush, check in under your name.
In line with Ontario's drinking age, DPRTMNT requires guests to be 19 or older for entry on standard club nights and ticketed events. The room tends to draw a 21 to 30-plus crowd, so bring real ID.
Want to do it right? Grab a booth. DPRTMNT offers booth and bottle service on both regular and ticketed nights, with prices set by selection and group size. Expect around $800 minimum spend for a small booth, up to $3,000+ for a larger group. Drinks run $14-18 for a mixed drink, $12-15 for a beer, coat check is $5. Drop your date and headcount in the form and we'll line up the right table and minimum for the night.
