Low Bar is the Junction Triangle's living-room dive: vintage clutter, a big wooden bar in the middle, cheap drinks and Top 40 with throwbacks. No cover, no list, no fuss. Walk in, grab a stool, stay a while. Here's the honest rundown.

The scene

What it's actually like

It's small and it's warm. Wooden ceilings, shelves of bottles and odd collectibles, a retro TV behind the bar. Most of the seating circles the bar, so you end up talking to whoever's next to you. Friendly staff, easy prices, no pretense.

This isn't a club and never pretends to be. It's a neighbourhood bar built for hanging out, low-key nights and a few cheap drinks with your people. On weekends it gets busy and a little tight, which is the whole charm.

The honest review

Low Bar Toronto: the full review

Address & location

Low Bar's in the Junction Triangle at 1426 Bloor St W (M6P 3L4), just south of Wallace and west of Lansdowne. Transit's right there, so it's easy to get to from across the city.

The room

Small and cozy with a rustic, old-school dive feel. A big wooden bar sits in the middle, ringed by vintage decorations, wooden ceilings and shelves full of bottles and collectibles. There's a little retro TV behind the bar. Most seats circle the bar, so the room talks to itself.

Who's there

Locals and regulars, an easygoing crowd that wants a cheap drink and good company, not a scene. People praise the staff and the prices. It's the kind of place you end up staying longer than you planned.

What's great

What to know going in

The music

Top 40 and throwbacks, current hits next to old favourites. It's kept low enough that you can actually talk, which is the point. Background energy, not a dancefloor.

What to wear

Casual, all the way. Jeans, a t-shirt, sneakers, you're good. Nobody's dressing up for Low Bar and that's exactly why people like it.

Cover & getting in

No cover, no guestlist, walk-ins only. You show up, you walk in, you find a stool. On a busy weekend get there a little early so you don't end up standing.

Age limit

19+, strictly enforced. Bring real ID. Ontario rules, no exceptions.

The drinks

This is a cheap-drinks bar and proud of it. Beer runs about $5 to $10, shots $4 to $9, and cocktails $12 to $15. Pull up a stool at that big wooden bar, order something simple, and settle in.
