Toybox is one of the biggest rooms in the King West area. Top 40, hip-hop and EDM across two floors, the famous bear out front, and a young crowd that packs it early. Here's the honest rundown.
The honest reviewToybox is at 473 Adelaide St W (M5V 1T1), on Portland between Adelaide and King in the King West area. It's tucked off an alley, but you can't miss it: just look for the big neon pink Toybox sign and the crowd out front.
Holds about 500-600, so it's one of the bigger venues in the city. Two floors, the top being the main dance area, the bottom holding a small bar, a dance area and a lounge with comfortable seating. Multiple bars, booths and a large DJ booth. There's room to roam.
Young and diverse, mostly 19-28. It's well known among Toronto's younger crowd as one of the top rooms on the strip. People come dressed casual to party to pop-rap and grab a photo with the bear. If you want a big, energetic room full of people your age, this is it.
At Toybox you get mainly Top 40, EDM and house, with the occasional hip-hop or rap banger dropped in. It's the typical big-room mix built to keep a young, diverse floor moving all night. If pop-rap anthems and Top 40 are your thing, this room is made for it.
Dress code is semi-formal and fashion-forward. Dress classy and you're fine, and guys should be in dressy shoes. Women can bring purses, but side-bags for men are not allowed, and no sportswear or boots. Look sharp and the door's no problem.
Strict 19+. No exceptions are made on a normal club night, so bring real ID.
