ULTRAVIOLET TORONTO OVERVIEW

Ultraviolet is a small-to-medium sized hip-hop club located on Queen Street West in the “West Queen West” neighbourhood of Toronto and is known for being one of Queen West’s best hip-hop clubs.

Ultraviolet has a dark nightclub vibe with flashy lights very similar to 44 Toronto, and has a main bar, a large dancefloor in front of the DJ booth, and several booths surrounding it.

ULTRAVIOLET CLUB REVIEW

Ultraviolet is a venue that is located on the second floor of 1096 Queen St West, which is in the same building as the restaurant called The Good Son. Ultraviolet has a decent capacity of about 250-350 patrons, and is a good late night venue if you’re looking for an upscale hip-hop club in the area.

Ultraviolet is actually quite popular for a club on Queen West which usually struggles to attract a crowd as big as many of the major clubs on King West, making it a good choice if you’re looking for something that isn’t potentially dead for the night. That being said, Ultraviolet tends to pop off and get busy much later in the night than most venues, especially during the winter months. Typically we’ll see Ultraviolet really get busy as late as 1:00AM, but again it depends on the night.

This club really caters to a mix of young professionals and professionals ranging from the ages of 21-29, and typically plays a mix of Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B, and Trap on any given night.

The main attraction in our opinion for this club is it’s sleek and dark atmosphere with it’s UV lights (hence the name Ultraviolet). This is something that is definitely unique to a lot of the venues on Queen West, with most other places being bars or restolounges. Ultraviolet brings an authentic clubbing experience it Queen West that it hasn’t really had in years.

Overall, we consider Ultraviolet a very good pick for a venue to go to on Queen West for a night out with your friends, or for birthday party event. However, we highly recommend getting a booth and bottle service for this club as that is where the value really is in this club.

PROS

∙ A nice dark club atmosphere

∙ Solid mix of hip-hop, trap and rap

∙ An authentic hip-hop club experience

CONS

∙ Doesn’t get busy until later in the night

∙ Best enjoyed with a booth and bottle service.

INSIDER TIPS

∙ Show up earlier than 12:00 AM to avoid waiting in line, especially in the summer

∙ Ladies are free before 11:00 PM
