EFS OVERVIEW
A small to medium sized venue. One room. Entering EFS, there are 3 bars, one at the front and two at the back corners. The middle of the club is a square dance floor that is enclosed by booths. Since it’s a smaller venue compared to others on King West, it can often get a bit crowded at the front.
EFS CLUB REVIEW
Having been to EFS multiple times we can tell you it is definitely one of the better known clubs in Toronto since it’s been around for a while, draws a consistently large crowd and maintains a modern feel. Some nights can be really good with great music, a great crowd, and friendly vibes. However sometimes the environment here can feel cliquey, so you won’t really be interacting with other people in the club that much, but instead you’re just there to party with your group of friends. This is due in part to the club’s layout which caters more toward those with booths and bottles. For some EFS is just a spot to chill if you’re trying to see and be be seen, similar to the vibe in some smaller Miami clubs where most people are just partying in their booths and showing out.
PROS
• More upper class venue and crowd
• Music is always on point
• A venue to see and be seen
CONS
• Often a “cliquey” vibe
• Not for ‘ratchet turn up’ night
• Medium Venue
INSIDER TIPS
• Arrive before 12 to avoid long lines
• Stamped entry allows in and outs
• This venue stays open later than others on certain nights
• Unlikely to be permitted entry without guestlist or bottle service
EFS GENERAL INFORMATION
The capacity of EFS is approximately 450 people for this medium sized venue. EFS features a main dance floor area surrounded by large booths with booths areas scattered along the back walls. Since EFS is one of the most popular venues on King Street it normally hits capacity around 12:30-1AM. On nights where there are extended hours (4AM last call), the venue hits capacity around the same time or a bit later. Although the club hits capacity and it’s peak around this time, it becomes very difficult to get into the club if you don’t get there by 11:30PM. We don’t suggest showing up any later than 11:30PM on a normal night because you may end up spending upwards of an hour to get in. EFS also features a nicely sized patio area up stairs on Summer nights. During the winter it usually converts into a dedicated smoking area. One thing to note is that Door staff is selective and can be very strict about dress code, but overall they’re nice. One thing to note is that EFS is usually guest list only, and there is no reduced cover, and generally no re-entries are allowed once you leave the club premises. Once you get through the line and pay cover, or go in through the special booth & bottle line (priority), you’re instantly in EFS’ main room where you can see the large square arrangement of booths. If entering the regular guest list line, once you pay for cover you’ll see the coat check area directly to the right. Coat check normally costs $4-6. Once you get to the main room you’ll notice that on the left when walking in there is 1 large bar that serves the main dance floor, and two bars off to the right that serve people in those areas. Overall EFS is considered the gold standard of Hip-Hop clubs on King Street, and despite the fact that it can be difficult to get in, there is rarely a bad night.
EFS LOCATION
EFS Toronto is located in city’s core within the Fashion District on the Southern side of King Street West and Bathurst Street. The venue is easily spotted by its bright neon lights and door staff as well as it’s signature brushed aluminum EFS sign illuminated from behind by a red light. Typically, the Guestlist line is on the left when facing the front of the club, and to the right is the VIP booth & bottle line.
EFS AGE LIMIT
You must be 21+ to enter EFS on a normal club night, with the exception of ladies who must be at least 19+ to enter.
EFS DRESS CODE
The dress code at EFS is classy yet fashion-forward, but also has a somewhat strict dress code. Guys normally wear dress shirts / classy street wear, and ladies usually wear dresses or something current and fashionable. Absolutely no sports wear, men’s side bags, boots, or sneakers are allowed for guys, and must wear dress shoes or dressy boots. Door staff is typically more lenient with ladies, but you’ll see most often see ladies wearing heels at this venue.
THE MUSIC AT EFS
EFS plays one of the best mixes of lounge house (usually at the start of the night) which then transitions gradually into Hip-Hop / Rap / R&B / and Trap as the night goes on. Again EFS is known very well for being the gold standard for Hip-Hop clubs, and that’s due large in part to the DJs that mix these flawless Hip-Hop sound tracks every weekend. EFS is also known to play a lot of Toronto’s most current local Hip-Hop and Rap artists.
EFS COVER CHARGE
The cover charge for EFS is always $20 — even with guestlist there is no reduced cover. However, ladies are free before 11:00PM. Also, if you are part of a booth and bottle booking, there are complimentary tickets included when you reserve your booth.
EFS GUESTLIST
We suggest signing up for guestlist at least a day in advance to avoid any hiccups with being left off the guestlist. Because EFS can be a difficult club to get into, we suggest arriving by 10:45PM to 11:00PM at the very latest so you don’t waste time outside in the line. On certain nights during extended hours when last call is 4AM, you can typically arrive as late as 12:00AM and have no problem with the line, but we still suggest getting there early regardless.
EFS BOOTH AND BOTTLE SERVICE
Booth and Bottle prices at EFS range from $260 – $600 for mid-range liquor, and $340 – $2000+ for higher end liquor, also depending on the size bottle you order. Finally, Champagne ranges from $190 – $700 for small to medium sized bottles, all the way up to $12,000 for a 6 liter Ace of Spades bottle. EFS has a minimum purchase (for table reservation) of $550 on Wednesdays & Thursdays, $1,000 for Fridays, and finally $1,500 for Saturdays. Additionally, there are several packages available for special events and birthdays that include several bottles of champagne and liquor.”
