Fiction is the Entertainment District starter club: a big two-floor room on Pearl Street running Top 40, EDM, Latin and hip-hop till close, a young 19+ crowd, and Friday and Saturday nights. Here's the honest rundown, plus the free guestlist so you skip the line.
The sceneFiction is a big room that serves a very specific crowd. Like most spots in the Entertainment District, it runs young: a lot of university students, first-year clubbers, and prom after-parties. If you just turned 19 and you want to see what Toronto clubbing is about before you hit the more grown rooms, this is a solid first stop. Two floors, two big dance floors, and it turns up consistently on a weekend.
It's not a polished King West room and the music isn't the draw. It's loud, it's rowdy, and the crowd skews tipsy and young. If that's your demographic you'll have a good time, and the cheap booths and bottles make it easy on the wallet. If you're over 21 and want something more mature, you'll probably want a different room.
Quick factsTwo floors, two big dance floors, and a room that fills up on a weekend. Here's the look inside.

Fiction's on Pearl Street in the Entertainment District, part of Toronto's downtown core, at 180 Pearl St (M5J 1L5). It's one of the few clubs left on Pearl, so it's not hard to find. Look for the building with the large black canopies and white handwriting on the windows.
Fiction is a large club with a capacity of roughly 500-600 when the basement floor is open. Walk in and there's one big bar at the back serving the main dance floor, a raised section where the booths sit, and a smaller bar serving that part of the floor. There's a large raised DJ booth at the back of the main dance floor, plus two sets of stairs down to the basement and the big bathrooms.
Mostly young: university students, first-year clubbers, and prom after-parties. It serves the 19 to 21 crowd well and turns up consistently, but it's not where an older crowd ends up. Come expecting young energy, not a grown-and-polished room.
Fiction usually runs a mix of Top 40 hits, EDM, Latin, and hip-hop and rap. It keeps the floor moving, but to be straight, the mixes are not the club's strong point. You come here for the room and the crowd more than the DJ.
The dress code is generally classy. Guys need dressy shoes, and the ladies should dress up too. No sportswear, hats, boots, sneakers or bags. Women can bring in a purse.
Cover is typically $20, and ladies get in free before 11:30pm with the guestlist. Cover still applies past 11pm regardless of the list, so aim to arrive by 10:50 at the absolute latest, since a line can start as early as 10:45. At the door you tell them what guestlist you're under, check in, get stamped, and head in.
Strict 19+ on a normal club night, no exceptions, so bring real ID.
This is where Fiction earns its keep. Bottle prices run $170 to $220 on average for mid-range liquor, with higher-end bottles available upwards of $450. Booth minimums start at $350 for a small booth and run up to $700 for a large one in the main room. Coat check is about $4 in the colder months, cocktails are $8 to $10 plus, beer $6 to $8 plus, and shots $9 to $10 plus. Drop your date and headcount in the form and we'll line up the right table and minimum for the night.
