Laissez Faire is King West's small, busy bar-club above Locals Only: pop, house and disco till 3am, a dressed-clean 21-to-35 crowd, and a room that packs out early on Friday and Saturday. Here's the honest rundown, plus the free guestlist so you skip the line.
The sceneLaissez Faire is a French tapas bar by day and a King West party by night. Think Parisian touches, high-top tables, balloons on the ceiling, and a tasteful little room that goes off when it fills. It's on the second floor of 589 King St W, and it's small, so it tightens up fast. Walk in on a weekend and you're straight into it: drinks moving, the DJ on pop-disco and lounge house, an eccentric young-pro crowd dancing.
This isn't a big warehouse club or a quiet wine bar. It's a tight, social room where you can still hold a conversation between songs, then turn around and dance. If your thing is house and disco-pop with a clean crowd and a King West address, this is the one. Just get there early, because capacity is low and it hits the cap quick.
Quick factsFree guestlist smooths your entry. Arrive before 11 (lines can start by 10:30), check in under your name, get your stamp, you're in. Want a booth instead? Pick bottle service below and we'll sort your table. Heads up: the guestlist closes at 10pm, and it doesn't waive cover for ladies after 11, so get there early. The room is small and hits capacity fast.

Laissez Faire is on King West at 589 King St W (M5V 1M5), on the second floor above Locals Only, on the south side of King, a few steps west of the King and Portland intersection. It's in the Fashion District, about two blocks west of Spadina, right on the city's main clubbing strip.
It's small, with a max capacity of about 100 to 120, so the size is part of the appeal and part of the catch. One floor, one bar, a DJ area and bathrooms, that's it. The Parisian-inspired look, high-tops and ceiling balloons make it feel intimate, but it fills fast and you'll feel it once it's full.
Mostly upscale young professionals, early-20s to mid-30s, dressed clean and semi-formal, with some college students and a real range of ages on a given night. It's a King West staple for a small group looking to dance, meet people and party without a giant warehouse around them.
The music at Laissez Faire is a mix of chill lounge house and pop-disco, and the DJs who spin here are some of the best in the city for those genres. It doesn't get blasted so loud you can't talk, which fits the room. You'll catch it from the street on a busy night, pop and house holding down the weekend.
Dress code is casual classy. Dress nicely and you won't have problems at the door. You can dress up a bit if you want, that's welcome. Bags aren't allowed, though women can bring a purse. Guys: no sportswear, sneakers, baggy clothing, boots, hats or side-bags.
Cover is $20 for the guys, or $15 with the guestlist before 11:30pm; ladies are free before 11. If you dined at Laissez Faire earlier in the night you can stay for the club without paying cover. The guestlist is your move for a clean entry. It won't waive cover for ladies after 11, so beat the clock, especially when the line's going by 10:30. At the door you check in under your name, get your stamp, you're in.
Strict 19+ on a normal club night. Ontario drinking age, no exceptions, so bring real ID.
Want a guaranteed spot in a room this small? Grab a booth. Your own service, a place to land, and no fighting the crowd at the bar.
