The scene

What it's actually like

The Rooftop trades the bottle-popping crush for one of the best views in Toronto. Up top of the historic Broadview Hotel, you get a 360 glass facade, an airy indoor space and an outdoor terrace looking over the skyline and the Don River. It's classy but relaxed: stylish room, good drinks, Top 40 keeping it lively, the kind of spot that works for a date, a celebration or a night out with friends.

This isn't a sweaty late-night dance floor. It's a view-first rooftop bar where the room and the skyline do the heavy lifting. Come for the setting, the drinks and the vibe, and you'll get exactly what it promises.

The Rooftop Toronto: the full review

Address & location

The Rooftop is part of the Broadview Hotel at 106 Broadview Ave (M4M 2G1), south of Queen East and east of Carlaw, in a well-known east-end pocket. The west side gets more nightlife attention, but the Broadview's rooftop is proof the east end has its own gems.

The room

It's spacious and airy, with both an indoor space under the pyramidal skylight and an outdoor terrace, so there's plenty of room to relax. The atmosphere is classy but calm, and the view of the Toronto skyline and the Don River is one of the best in the city.

Who's there

A crowd of young professionals who come for the mix of good drinks, the room and the company. It pulls people who want a stylish, refined night rather than a packed dance floor. Locals and visitors both, drawn by the view as much as anything.
