Hyde is a small to medium sized venue located west of Bathurst on King Street West in the Fashion District of Toronto. Clubs have slowly started to migrate west on King St over the past couple of years, and this is the furthest club west on the strip.

Upon entering Hyde there are two bars, the dance floor, and an elevated DJ booth. Since it’s a small to medium-sized venue, this one gets quite crowded, but since it isn’t central on King West, it doesn’t get uncomfortably packed.

As a newer edition to King West’s clubbing scene, Hyde is one of the nicer and more upscale clubs on King West compared to some of its competitors on the West side of the block. Most nights are pretty good with a healthy crowd coming every Friday and Saturday night and the venue being so new also has a very modern nightclub experience to it. Hyde’s crowd is a mix of young professionals and professionals ranging from their early 20s to mid-30s and overall has a good quality crowd.

Hyde is a nice club to celebrate a birthday or to spend a night out on the town with friends, especially if you get a booth and bottle service. For most people, Hyde is a spot to chill if you want to see and be seen, similar to the vibe of a small Miami club where people are partying in their booths just to show out, but it doesn’t mean it’s not a great place to go with a group of friends or to meet people even if you decide not to get bottle service.

  • Classy and mature venue and crowd
  • Hip-Hop and Top 40 Mix
  • A nice club to see and be seen

  • Not for ‘ratchet turn up’ night
  • Far away from other clubs in the area

  • Arrive before 11:30 PM  to avoid long lines
  • Unlikely to be permitted entry without guestlist or bottle service

Hyde has a capacity of about 300 people since it’s a small to medium-sized venue and it features a main dance floor area surrounded by the elevated DJ’s area and booths that host groups of people for bottle service. Hyde is a pretty popular venue despite being somewhat isolated from the other clubs on the King Street West clubbing strip, and you can expect the club to hit capacity, get busy, and hit its peak for the night by around 12:30 AM to 1:00 AM. Although the club hits its peak at this time, it’s quite difficult to get into the venue any time after 11:00 PM to 11:30 PM without bottle service reservations because it gets too busy to accommodate the crowd of people trying to get in. Knowing that, we highly suggest showing up to the club no later than 11:30 PM on any given night whether it’s a Friday or Saturday so you can avoid waiting in line for too long, and so you can actually get into the venue. If you do happen to get there later than 11:30 PM be prepared to wait for upwards of thirty minutes to an hour or more to get in.

One thing to note about Hyde is that it’s a more upscale club and because of this you’re expected to come in classy attire. The door staff can be selective about who they let into the club if they’re not following the dress code as the club maintains a professional image. The other thing is that Hyde is guestlist only, meaning that you can’t just walk into the club without your name on the guestlist, or without a booth and bottle reservation. There is no reduced cover or re-entries once you get into the club, but girls are generally let in for free before 11:00 PM.

Coat check in the colder seasons normally costs about $5 which you can do before entering the main club area. Once you get to the main room you’ll notice the bars, stage, and dancefloor located at the center. Overall, Hyde is considered the gold standard of modern hip-hop clubs in Toronto, and even though it’s a somewhat exclusive venue, it still seems to fill up consistently with a great quality crowd.

Hyde Toronto is located in the city’s core by the Fashion District on the South side of King Street West, West of Bathurst Street at the corner of King St West and Niagara St. The venue is easily spotted by the large sign that has the Hyde Logo embossed on it which sticks out of the side of the venue, and the large line that is typically out at the front. Normally there is also a separate guestlist line and bottle service line, which you can find by asking the door staff about at the front.

You must be 21+ to enter Hyde on a normal club night, with the exception of ladies who must be at least 19+ to enter.

The dress code at Hyde is classy yet fashion-forward but also has a strict dress code. Guys typically wear dress shirts / classy and upscale designer or streetwear, while the ladies usually wear dresses or something current and fashionable. There is absolutely no sportswear, men’s side bags, boots, or sneakers are allowed for the guys, and they must wear dressy shoes or dressy boots. The door staff is typically more lenient with ladies, but you’ll see most often see ladies wearing heels at this venue.

Hyde plays one of the best mixes of house (usually at the start of the night) which then transitions gradually into Hip-Hop / Rap / R&B / and Trap as the night goes on. Again Hyde is known very well for being the gold standard for Hip-Hop clubs, and that’s due largely in part to the DJs that mix these flawless Hip-Hop soundtracks every weekend. Hyde is also sometimes known to play a lot of Toronto’s most current local Hip-Hop and Rap artists.

The cover charge for Hyde is always $20 — even with guestlist there is no reduced cover. However, ladies are free before 11:00PM. Also, if you are part of a booth and bottle booking, complimentary tickets are included when you reserve your booth.

We suggest signing up for guestlist at least a day in advance to avoid any hiccups with being left off the guestlist. Because Hyde can be a difficult club to get into, we suggest arriving by 10:45PM to 11:00PM at the very latest so you don’t waste time outside in the line.

Booth and Bottle prices at Hyde range from $260 – $600 for mid-range liquor, and $340 – $2000+ for higher-end liquor, also depending on the size bottle you order. Finally, Champagne ranges from $190 – $700 for small to medium-sized bottles, all the way up to $12,000 for a 6-liter Ace of Spades bottle. Hyde has a minimum purchase (for table reservation) of $1,000 for Fridays, and finally $1,500 for Saturdays. Additionally, several packages are available for special events and birthdays, including several bottles of champagne and liquor.
